For those of you who have been following my posts there has been a lot of of 'brave talkin'. Dreaming and such. My Marcy friend  recently asked me to come look at a house with her. She and her husband have been saving and planning to buy a home. They have been renters for years and have successfully stored up a down payment. My dear friend text me one day and sent me a snapshot of a listing of a home that she was over the top excited about. I too was thrilled for her because I knew she and her husband were eager to be homeowners. A few weeks later I received a text from her that their offer on the house had been accepted. She asked me if I want to go look at it with her. Inside I was jumping for joy excited and text back an emphatic "YES"! We agreed that we would meet up later in the week to look at it. The day came and  I followed her in my car to the house in a neighboring town. As we pulled into the grass filled driveway this is what I saw...........

She got out of the car and hurried up to the lock box on the back door to get the key to the front door.

I stood there looking at the old wood windows, the peeling paint, the overgrown shrubs and heard the loud negative voices shouting between my ears, "wow this is a lot of work", " I wonder how old the roof is?" , "those wood windows won't hold heat in".

All the while my sweet friend is chattering to me about how much she loves it. How huge it is! How much she loves old homes!

I said " uh have you ever seen that movie with Tom Hanks called The Money Pit?" As I gave her a nervous smile? For those of you who have never seen that movie. A husband and wife buy this big old home and it turns out to be a disaster  and sucks their bank accounts dry with all of the repairs that need to be made.

My friend turns to me and says "Oh Cindy! This house is not like that!"

She takes me in the front door shows me the living room (full of junk, mind you) and points at the fireplace and says "I've always wanted a fireplace"!

She tells me that the house was left in an estate and when the deal closes they get to keep everything. I think in my head "How wonderful they will need a dumpster for all of it."

As we wander through the rooms there is junk everywhere. She proudly shows me that there is a brand new heating & cooling system and I say"great!" as I look at the old stained carpet.

We go upstairs and it is hot and musty with the words "safe sex" spray painted on the ceiling graffiti style. She points to this small window and declares "There! that is where we will  build a window seat Anna, a perfect place for reading!" Anna her daughter is with us touring the house. I look at Anna and I can tell by the look on her face that she isn't too sure.

The upstairs has no sheet rock and the floor is bare wood. But nothing deters my friend. She takes us through the kitchen to what looks like an enclosed porch

It is full of junk and has no windows. My friend excitedly tells me about how she wants to renovate it and make it a screened in porch so they can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air looking out to their backyard  which had this...........

She would make it a place for reading and art and hanging out. I looked around and negativity started to spew out of me..." are you sure you will have enough money to fix all of this You might be taking on too much!  Just as it began to come out of my mouth I realized that this is her dream. She always wanted an old home.

This one was 100 years old.

She always wanted to be near places that she could walk to, a cute little coffee shop across the street.

She always wanted chickens, the house sat on 1.3 acres.

I immediately stopped myself and said "Marcy will you please forgive me... I am being a dream killer...." She of course hugged me and excitedly showed me the rest of the property telling me all the plans that she and her hubby had.

She pointed directly to the weeping willow tree near the house and said she and her daughter had always dreamed of having a weeping willow tree.

I was thankful that day that I listened to the Holy Spirit and stopped my negative thoughts and speech.

This was Marcy's dream...not mine it is the dream that God has given could I tear down her visions and hopes.

She is my friend and I love her.

If someone is brave enough to share their dream with you

be ONE  who is a dream builder not a dream killer.

Be one who makes someone brave....
Brave is better together
