I'm thinking if an event happens at the same time each year it then becomes a
tradition
This year is our 2nd year spending the weekend with our friends at the Airshow of the Cascades
in Madras. So that counts as tradition right?
We live on the west side of the Cascade Mountain range and Madras is on the east side of the mountains. We often travel up and over these mountains to vacation and every time we do I must take photos....cause you know....the scenery is quite photo worthy

Isn't it beautiful!
Blue skies...
Wide valleys......
& Majestic Mountains in the background.
I just can never resist.
I spend much of the drive doing this
Which to be honest freaks my family out.
I hang out the window just so I can get this

And this......

They say,"Mom! put the camera strap around your neck! Mom be careful we don't want your head lopped off from the metal beams on the bridge!"
The one above is one I took while we drove over a bridge.
I must admit the beauty is worth the trouble.

And this lovely couple is why we traveled over the moutains
So very cute aren't they?
Last year they invited our family to dry camp with them on their property near
 Lake Billy Chinook.
For those who are not campers, dry camping means no water or no flush toilets on site.  Not my favorite way to camp but the company and the anticipated fun outweighed the lack of facilities.
The fun for our first evening was the
Airshow of the Cascades
It is held at the Madras Airport.

We arrived early and wandered around to view
some very cool restored planes

Oh and I have no idea what type of planes they are. But I do know they are shiny and cool lookin'

As the sun begun to set, people found places to sit
even sitting on the wings of the planes.

We brought our chairs and settled in for the show
A whole row of us, our cute couple friends and their kids and grandkids.

And yes, my man........
I'm thinking he is cute in this photo

The airshow was set against this backdrop of mountain beauty

If you live in another state other than Oregon be jealous, we have some beautiful scenery here....

Planes taking off and performing
 fantastical stunts......is fantastical a word?
And as it got darker daredevil stunts over explosions of fire

Ending with an explosion of fireworks
Two hours of planes, stunts, skydivers, explosions and fireworks and best of all
friendship.
Already looking forward to this tradition next year.
