Over the weekend we gained a new member of the Fincher household.
Here she is with my blonde fluffy haired girl:

Sweet Idalis Maria Flores has joined our household. She messaged me a couple of weeks ago on Facebook looking for a place to "land". Idalis had  lived with her sweet grandma for 8 years. Her grandma took her in and embraced Idalis when she was in the midst of a difficult time in her life. Moving from the city to our small town she found not only a family in her grandma but a spiritual family in her local church. Recently her dear sweet grandma who had lovingly cared for her had become ill and passed away. This photo I snitched from Idalis. It is a beautiful message of their relationship:

My husband I first met Idalis several years ago when we were youth pastors at our church. She attended a youth conference at our church with her youth group. I have known her through out her high school years and have watched her from afar. I saw how she was involved in student leadership in her school, how she loved people in the name of Jesus by her friendly smile and kind ways. When she messaged me I quickly asked my husband if we could take her in. We talked about it, knowing that whenever someone comes to live with you it will change your life. We consulted with our girls because we knew it would effect them too. We all came to the same conclusion, yes! We can make room in our home. The fluffy haired girl offered to give up her room and her rights to the bathroom next to her bedroom. Our oldest daughter gave up her room, which was the largest, to her two youngest sisters. The shifting of rooms was only symbolic to what was happening in their hearts, making room for her in our family. Idalis has been with us since Friday. When she came I told her, we are pretty simple people and whatever high notions you may have had about us just throw them out of the window because we would surely disappoint.
What we could do for her was to care for her, include her and give her room to grow. Her goal is to save up enough money to have her own place and I am confident that she will.
For now, God has given us the privilege of being an intimate part of her life.
Welcome to our family.....
