In my occupation I drive a tremendous amount. Last year it was not uncommon for me to put 130 miles on my car in a day. I want you to know that my stories that I am about to share do not reflect purposed speeding, only accidental speeding. Our lovely small town has 3speed traps as you go out of town. Yes, count them 3. And I have had the privilege of being stopped at 2 of the infamous speed traps. Once when I was heading out of town going 45 in a 25.The photo below will look very familiar to those of you who live in my town. People are often stopped for speeding up too soon before the 45mph sign.
Do you see any houses around to need a  25mph speed sign?
The officer who stopped me wanted to see my license and registration, and insurance card. OOPS! well I had the license and registration. But the insurance card? Now the irony of this is that my husband is an insurance agent. AND his insurance agency is in town. So I proceeded to tell the officer that I really did have insurance and I neglected to put my new insurance card in the car. AND he should really believe me because my husband just works at the local insurance office in the middle of town and I could take him there if he needed me to. He said, " no that is okay m'am you have a clean record I will let you go. But you do need to take care of this and be more careful going out of town." I said, "yes sir" and drove away. Very grateful for no ticket. The second time that I got stopped was driving out of our little town going north. The speed limit increases from 25 to 45 very quickly and I sped up too soon. On my way to an appointment. A police officer pulled me over and as he walked up to my window and looked down to ask me for my registration, license and insurance card (luckily I did have the new card) he looked vaguely familiar..... where had I seen him before. I quickly searched my memory as I searched my car for my paperwork and then it came to me. AHA! I had made 4 phone calls to him regarding the local neighborhood watch program. We mutually knew each other through work. He still had not returned my phone calls and it was 3 weeks later! I gave him the paperwork and he went to look me up in his database. Of course he saw my sparkling clean record. He bent down to talk to me and I said, "do I know you? you are the local neighborhood watch officer aren't you?" He replied, "well yes, I am" I said" you know I have called you 4 times and you haven't returned my phone calls." His face turned a little red and he seemed embarrassed, " oh yeah I did mean to call you I just haven't got around to it.... well you can go it looks like your record is clean just be aware of those posted speed signs." (yes, it was clean thanks to the previous kind police officer) I said, " well thank you! and please do not forget to call me! You owe me a phone call."  :)
